Joyce Genetics is owned and operated by Charlie Joyce and is a 20 sow show pig operation consisting of Berkshires, Chesters, Durocs and Crosses. Joyce raises and sells the pigs at his home farm located in Charlottesville, Indiana. Show pigs, purebred pigs specifically, have always been a staple in Joyce’s life. As a third generation Berkshire breeder, Joyce has always been excited about breeding pigs and desirous to raise some of his own to sell to other young people in a hopes to keep purebred shows competitive. Throughout the building of his business, he has had many Berkshire breeders and ABA members and staff to look up to and seek advice from. “I want to get my farm name out there and create a reputation for selling quality pigs to good homes, and example set by so many before me,” says Joyce. In an effort to get the Joyce Genetics brand in front of the online audience, Charlie thought the Debut made a great fit for their sales goals. In the past, pigs have been sold privately or off the farm and with a desire to grow and reach a large audience, Joyce felt it was time to make a move and a shift to online sales. The Debut is a premier consignment auction platform that showcases new consignors, breeders or operations looking for a facelift or re-introduction to the market. The first Debut is February 28.
