Now, Stone Front Pigs consists of 35 breeding aged females and seven boars in Wilson, Wisconsin. Stone Front Pigs is made up of Berkshires, Durocs, Herefords, Tamworths, Chester Whites and Crossbreds. The goal of the operation is simple: market the top end of each litter as show pigs and breeding stock and sell the bottom end as feeder pigs. Stone Front Pigs’ initial goal is to assemble a herd of productive females and a few boars that can be the building blocks of the herd moving forward. Eventually, Jim hopes to generate all replacements females in the herd and only bring in genetics diversification on the boar side of things. He also hopes to maintain a herd average of ten pigs born alive and eight pigs weaned per litter. Jim would like to continue to build relationships with fellow breeders all across the country that he can use as a resource as he expands his operation. Although Stone Front Pigs exhibits pigs at national events, The Debut will be their first online auction.
